Celebrating AAPI Heritage Month at Sunda

May is AAPI Heritage Month, a time to honor the rich cultures and traditions that have shaped our culinary landscape. At Sunda, we’ve always been passionate about celebrating Southeast Asia’s diverse flavors, blending traditional dishes with modern techniques and the finest ingredients. This month, we’re proud to highlight special offerings that pay homage to AAPI heritage and showcase the vibrant tastes of the region.

For the month of May, we’re featuring a selection of unique dishes and drinks. Our Baked Oysters offer a savory twist with coconut braised greens, crispy bacon, pickled chili, and toasted panko for a satisfying balance of flavors. The Sisig brings together braised pork belly, honeycomb tripe, crispy egg, and a zesty chili lime vinaigrette, served with roti prata for a perfect mix of textures. Our indulgent Short Rib Kare Kare features tender braised short ribs in a rich achiote peanut sauce, complemented by a spicy chili crisp and fresh herbs. To complement these dishes, we’ve crafted the Crimson Lotus cocktail, a spicy blend of tequila, roasted jalapeño hibiscus syrup, and pineapple juice, as well as the refreshing Sunset mocktail, offering the same vibrant flavors without the alcohol.

While these May specials celebrate AAPI heritage, our regular menu is always a tribute to the diverse culinary traditions of Southeast Asia. For a taste of Japan, try our Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, which combines fresh tuna and spicy aioli atop crispy rice cakes for a perfect contrast of textures. Bring the heat with our Szechuan Chicken, a bold Chinese dish with a peppery, spicy kick. For a classic Thai experience, indulge in our Pad Thai, a perfect blend of tamarind, lime, peanuts, and rice noodles, balanced with a choice of protein and just the right amount of spice. And to celebrate the rich flavors of the Philippines, our Kamayan Feast offers an immersive, family-style dining experience, with a spread of grilled meats, seafood, and traditional sides, served on banana leaves for a truly communal celebration.

AAPI culture is a core inspiration at Sunda, and we’re thrilled to share these flavors with you year-round. Whether you’re enjoying our May specials or exploring our regular menu, we invite you to join us in celebrating the rich heritage that shapes our food and our community.
