NBC : Local restaurateur finds his ‘Food Roots’ in acclaimed documentary

On the heels of the Florida Premiere of Food Roots at the Gasparilla International Film Festival, restaurateur Billy Dec joins us to share the personal story behind the documentary. The founder of Sunda New Asian Restaurant in Tampa (also Nashville and Chicago) traveled to the Philippines to learn recipes from his ancestors and discovered a whole lot more along the way. Dec also shows us how to make Lumpia-– crispy pork and shrimp eggroll– which he grew up eating.  Food Roots will also be screened at the upcoming Sunscreen Film Festival in St. Petersburg.
